Freedom from Eating Disorders (FED) Group - for Youth
Healing eating difficulties and improving body image
(a 6-week online group)
Is your teenager struggling with food and weight difficulties? Or are you a young adult who feels out of control around food and wants to improve your body image?
I’m Shelley and I’ve been helping those who struggle with eating disorders and disordered eating for over 30 years. I’ve supported hundreds of young people in developing the skills and mindset for true healing. My groups are safe spaces where young people can express themselves freely while being respected for their individuality.
This 6-week online group for those 12-24 years old delves into the difficult thoughts and feelings you may be having around food and your body. Each week you’ll learn new strategies to challenge those thoughts and learn to heal. By the end of the group, you will develop the skills you need to live free from food difficulties!
Join us for 6, 2-hour group sessions via video (Zoom). By attending this group you can expect to:
Gain a deeper understanding of your own relationship with food.
Understand the origins of eating disorders.
Learn valuable coping skills using evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and using Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size principles.
Be part of a supportive community to share and hear from others on a similar journey.
Develop a personalized plan for lasting change that focuses on health and empowerment.
If you or your teenager is on a waitlist for a provincial service, this is a powerful group to join in the meantime. In fact, many participants no longer feel like they need to enter an eating disorder program after finishing.
