Meet Shelley,
With over 30 years of personal recovery and professional expertise in the field of eating disorders, I have developed a comprehensive approach to achieving lasting freedom. Together, we can explore binge prevention strategies and gain a deeper understanding of how food is used as a coping mechanism.
As a Registered Professional Counsellor (RPC) with three decades of experience, I graduated in 2002 and have specialized training in the Satir Model of Counselling. My extensive background includes treating eating disorders, and I am also certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Trauma Counselling. My areas of specialization include Eating Disorders, Weight Loss, and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).
Not all Binges are a Choice. The exact cause of BED is unknown, but chemicals in the brain, family history and certain life experiences may play a role in Binge Eating Disorder. BED often begins in the late teens or early 20s. BED affects slightly more women than men. About 40% of those with BED are male. I believe we “know” when our eating behavior is off and that dieting will not resolve the underlying anxiety.
There is help, I’ve been there.

“I have known Shelley for 3 years and she has been counseling me for about 10 months. She is so easy to talk to, amazingly intuitive and compassionate. I have always felt safe to open up to her and she has helped me learn to be in tune with my body like I've never known. Her guidance is practical and simple to apply to my life. I highly recommend Shelley to anyone in search of counseling, especially if you have a less-than-ideal relationship with food.”

Shelly changed my life. When I struggled through challenging circumstances that were difficult to bear I had the opportunity to get counselling from Shelly. She taught me to love and accept every part of myself, to feel, to dream and showed me how incredibly strong I am. Shelly is patient, kind, intuitive, accepting, gentle and always present with her full heart and skills. I trust her completely and am truly grateful to have her as a resource in helping me live my best life.

I've been seeing Shelley now for over year now. After "Dieting" nearly my whole life, I knew there was a BIG piece missing in my life, and dieting wasn't answering the problem. I never thought I possibly had a binge eating disorder. All I knew is that I was broken, wounded and needed guidance in a new way. Today over year of Recovery, Shelley has opened up a brand new world with fresh eyes like a child starting a new life. So many years of shame blame, judgement, I found healing in the deepest part of my soul, and embraced my inner child that needed to be heard and loved. Recovery is a brand new world of freedom, and healing our relationships with food. Shelley is the most wonderful human being! Shelley is very knowledgeable, caring, and truly cares about my well-being! This has been a life changing experience! We truly can all recover! JM - Mission,BC
